Book Week

Book week is a week based around books and includes the entire school. For example, one of the activities we did this year for book week was, every day there was a golden ticket hidden around the school and who ever found it got a prize. Every book week there's a day (in this case Thursday) where you can dress up as a character from any book. This year I was Hagrid from the Harry Potter series.

Every year for book week all the classes have to theme and decorate their door based around a book. This year we based our door around the platform 9 and 3/4 from Harry Potter. Another one of the activities is every day this week there's been a section of a book read out over the speaker by a teacher and you have to try and guess what the book is and who the person that's reading it is. I think book week is really fun and that the school should continue doing it.

Weekend Sport | Emil

Weekend Sport

This weekend will be the very first soccer game this season. Our team plays for Grey Main and we're in the under 13's. The grades go from under sixes to the over 13's (or mens.) Our first game is on Sunday this weekend in Hokitika. I think we have quite a good team this season and that we'll do really well. This time a lot of the players that are playing are actually from Grey Main. I'm really looking forward to this season of soccer.

Among The Poppy Fields

On the day

I was sent away

Everyone shed a tear

For death was coming near

Bullets flying

As I am crying

For I miss home

And my little brother Rome

The food is revolting

I feel like bolting

Away from this horrid place

Without any trace

If I don’t survive

And they don’t know what we did

Remind my family

That I am hid

Among the poppy fields

ANZAC Biscuits | Emil

ANZAC Biscuits

This week we've been doing ANZAC activities and one of those activities was making ANZAC biscuits. We made the biscuits because we'll be going on a walk on Friday down to Dixon House where we are going to give the biscuits to the elderly people who live there. This week we've been doing ANZAC activities and one of them is to create a comic strip about all the unwelcome visitors the men had to deal with in the trenches. I've created a comic strip about a rat.
