This is all about the art we're doing this term. It's based around Pharaohs and what they were. We had to research them first before the art. I hope you like it :)

Rocket Stove | 2020
Rocket Stove
During isolation, my dad and I thought of an idea to build a rocket stove. A rocket stove is sort of like a mini stove. You have a whole in the side of whatever your making it out of to feed the twigs (or whatever your using as fuel) into and then the big hole in the top where all the heat comes out of. We made ours out of a bunch of old food cans and a bigger paint can.We began by cutting both ends of one can out using tin cutters and then only one end of another can so we had one hollow one and one with only one open end (a lot of ones in that sentence). We then went on to use a rivet gun and two pieces of metal to hold both of these cans together. After that we made a hole the same size of the smaller cans in the lid of the big paint can where the small cans would eventually sit. We then had to cut a hole in the side of the cans to fit yet another can into the side where the fuel would be fed into. After this we cut some more holes and fastened some more cans until it was time to pour the cement.
At this time the cement is still hardening however, we're not sure whether we are going to have to knock the cement out and replace it with sand because of how the cement might react. We also added on some wire to the top where the pan or pot your cooking with can sit. I though that this was a really fun project and would love to do something like this again in the future. (Warning, if you are to make a rocket stove then it is the best and the safest to do it with sand as cement expands under heat. We will be changing it for sand.)
Here are some photos :)

Limerick | Poetry
Limerick
There once was a cold Genie
Who wished he owned a warm beanie
So he set out on his short mission
Then realised he hadn’t paid his tuition
And couldn’t afford a zucchini

Mistletoe Bay Camp 2020 Map | Topic
Above is a map of the route we took to our Mistletoe Bay camp. I have added in some interesting points along the way and some facts about those stops. I think this trip was amazing and would definitely do it again.

Futsal | Emil
Futsal
Futsal, pronounced foot-sool is basically an indoor version of football. The rules are pretty much the same except, instead of a throw in it's a kick in and it's five vs five instead of 11 vs 11. Every Monday and Thursday, my friends and I go down to the civic centre to play. Depending on how many people there are, we play a game or we create three teams and if one team scores then, the other team goes off and the other one comes on.
Last time we tried to play a tournament. We would got sorted into four different teams and then each team would vs one another. Futsal is really, really fun and if your into football then I suggest giving it a go!

Grandparents Day | 2019

Grandparents Day
-------------------------------------------------------------
On Friday last week, there was grandparents day. Grandparents day is when your grandparents come in and check out what you've been doing in your class. There were also some activities that you could do with your grandparents like make a grandparents profile and others. Sadly my grandparents couldn't come because they live on the other side of the world in Denmark...
All the grandparents came into our assembly as guests and saw our presentation and certificates as well. I think that grandparents day is a really good idea to share your learning publicly!

Rugby World Cup

Rugby World Cup
-------------------------------------------------------------
At the very beginning of the last term of this year, the whole school and I hosted a rugby world cup in school. Basically, everybody was given a number and a country which they would later on become a part of. We lined up in all of our countries, and oh boy were there a lot! I was sorted into Ireland which was the first group.
All the groups did at least half of the activities and the activities were things like Duck Duck Goose, Rippa Rugby, Rats and Rabbits and Rob the Nest. There were loads of other activities that I can't quite remember the names of. Our school has a Rugby World Cup every year and I really enjoy all of them!

Shake Out | 17/10/19
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shake Out
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Friday the 17th October our school and almost every other school in the country had a shake out. Pretty much a shake out is where the whole school has an earthquake drill and then afterwards has a Tsunami drill. I'm not sure whether all schools have a Tsunami drill straight after the earthquake one.
The drill started by the office giving an all-call (The office sends a message out to the whole school) that an earthquake is happening and then we were told to get under the tables. We stayed under the tables for about five minutes until we were told get out from under the tables and walk in single file to one of the gates. We have a safe zone from Tsunamis directly outside our school, but we have permission from one of the school parents to go up their drive way anyway just to be safe. The driveway is uphill and it's so big that it can fit the entire school on it, and there are over 300 students at our school!
In case of an earthquake emergency you always drop, cover and hold. Drop underneath a table, cover your head and neck, and wait until the shaking has stopped. If your outside or there's no room underneath a table just drop into a turtle position, and cover your head and neck.
I really hope you found this post interesting and useful.
